Robot thumbs by Tyrus88 Robot thumbs by Tyrus88
Really quick robot thumbs. I should do more of these I suppose, only takes a few minutes each.

I first select an rectangle with the marquee tool, then work on the silhouette for half of the robot. Then duplicate, and flip horizontal. And do some quick shading to define forms.

I will continue working on one of them..

Which do you think? And why?

This the first one and the third are my favorites, maybe with third one you could make a slave collector. Put some holders or pens on the sides and make the smaller lash out grab them and collect them for "later"

Sorry for my rambling, great art.

The lower left one is the most interesting visually. One thing though; it doesn't need four arms ending with hands. The upper arms could end in energy weapons or something to that effect - in their position they'd provide excellent coverage - and they could curl up inside the body when not in use, protecting them from damage.

I think the one in the upper right corner. That one looks like it's able to turn itself in to a big steel-ball. And maybe roll very fast?

Both of the left ones. The big, hulking form of the top one makes it really cool, and the speedy, multi-limbed look makes the bottom one stand out as well.

I'm with Supaslim, love the bottom left. I guess because it reminds me of an insect. I just love the idea of an insectoid robot.

My favourites are 1 and 2 (top left and top right).

If this project were up to me, I'd suggest taking the hulking shoulders and "face" of 2 (I suppose it would be more accurate to say "chest plate"), and combine that with the thorax and forearms of number 1. As for the legs, I'd like to see the thighs of 1, with a slightly sleeker variation of the lower legs and feet of 2 to go with the thighs.

Some other things I like are the business suit shoulder plates of 4 (bottom right), and the thigh-to-hip joints of 3 (bottom left), with the way that the thigh continues on up after the joint.

thanks a lot for your comment. Like your suggestions... but my favorite is actually number 3. So I'm currently working on a more detailed version of that : )

But the nice thing about thumbs is that you keep stacking them, and then have good ides for future projects.

I like the upper right one, with the hulking shoulders and big fatty torso :) I just like the character design a lot (mostly cos I like chunky things but whatever hee hee)
